Where lies the language files for OTRS?

I can't find it. I've used https://www.transifex.com/otrs/OTRS/ to update some translations (for pt_BR), but now I want to do update the translation of the local install (avoiding the wait for a new release :]).

The translation files are .mo files? Where are them?

in Kernel/Language as Perl file. The transifex output is converted to PERL
