Dear Friends,
I was trying to upgrade my OTRS 5.0.8 to 6.0.30 on CentOS 6.10. However, later I noticed it is not possible/advisable to upgrade to OTRS 6 on CentOS 6. I perceive it should be on CentOS 7.
So, my new plan is:
1. Install fresh OTRS 6.0.8 on CentOS 7.8
2. Migrate my OTRS data and system from OTRS 5.0.8 to server to above new environment.
My question is, how do I migrate my Database and application configurations from the old system? If anyone has done the same thing, I would appreciate sharing me any forum link or a guide.

Re: Migrate OTRS System to another server
Thanks wurzel for your reply. I already referred to this section for my initial upgrade attempt. My understanding is, this section does not cover the database and application migration to another location. This only upgrades the existing system. However, "backup and restore method" mentioned in the skullz's reply seems relevant to my scenario. I will try and update the forum. Please mention if anything else. Thanks againwurzel wrote: ↑04 Nov 2020, 15:49 Hi,

Hi,
actually the docs do not show how to transfer your (backup-) files/database from one host to another.
It is a generic documentation and you should adapt it to your needs.
Backup/Restore is mentioned in the docs as well.

Re: Migrate OTRS System to another server
With my readings so far, this should be the plan:
Step 1. Backup entire system (with database) which is in CentOS 6 server
https://doc.otrs.com/doc/manual/admin/6 ... store.html
Step 2. Get a fresh CentOS 7 VM
Step 3. Install OTRS 5 on the CentOS 7
Step 4. Restore the backup of step 1
Step 5. Upgrade the OTRS 5 to 6
https://doc.otrs.com/doc/manual/admin/6 ... ating.html
Even though the above steps seems straight forward, I think there can be practical issues encountered by professionals who has done this earlier. Can anyone please share your experiences? My real worry is about migrating the system with the database from one server to another. (Step 4) Any comment highly appreciated

Hi,
Just copy the backup with scp to the new server.

Why not try it first on your test machine..record every step one by one / error / additional step needed..
on the actual migration, you should already cover any issue during test.

Re: Migrate OTRS System to another server
Thanks Roy.! may be I didn't explain that correctly. I can copy the back to the destination. But my worry is configuring the backup in the new server.
I have to follow the restore section of below guide:
https://doc.otrs.com/doc/manual/admin/6 ... store.html
What are the practical issues came across by professionals who has done this earlier ?
