ckeditor4 EOL

Hello Community,

since ckeditor4 reached end of life already in June 2023 with the last open source version being 4.22.1. I wonder if Znuny (including Znuny LTS) is soon going to update to ckeditor4 LTS or 5 since this seems to me like a big security issue currently.

You may continue using CKEditor 4.22.1 and below under the open source license terms. Please note, however, that the open source version no longer comes with any security updates, so your application will be at risk.

Hi,

if you follow our roadmap you will see that the CKEditor 5 is on our schedule for version 7 and are working on this.
But: we wont release a change for the LTS version and will apply necessary fixes if needed / discoverd, by ourselfs.
The change is simply to big and we are aware of that since 2023 Q1.

The Ckeditor 5 is not a simple inline replacement. It is a complete rewrite and needs a ton of work to get it to work as we
need it to. Also there is no easy migration path and some of the plugins that were used previously are not availbe (and wont be).

So in short:
No update for CKEditor 4 in Znuny LTS 6.5.

If one really needs special support, there are offers from CKEditor for LTS Versions of their
library. Those can "easily" be added and we have customers who bought the LTS support from them.
