Error: Can't connect to database, read comment!

OTRS Web-Installer ver 2.4.7 returns this error message whenever I change any fields on this page: http://localhost/otrs/installer.pl. For this reason, I cannot change the admin password. I also do not understand how this database is made even after reading the relevant sections of the online OTRS manual. Please help me understand how this process works and why the OTRS Web-Installer returns this message.

Could you please specify your problem?
What OS do you use? Windows or Linux?

Thanks for the reply. I get the same error message in Windows 7 x64 and Windows Vista x32.

Don't change the password in the installer window. It is the passwort for the database Admin (which is per default empty)
