Hi,
I am looking for a way to document the relationships between different CIs like "depends on", "related to" or "is backup of". I am a rookie for otrs cmdb. Maybe someone can help??

Re: Relationships between CIs
Where?
I can only find this very short explanation located there => http://otrs.github.io/doc/manual/itsm/3 ... 06s04.html:
"The graphic exemplifies the links between CIs. OTRS differentiates between bidirectional and nondirectional links. Whenever a CI is linked to another CMDB object, OTRS ITSM automatically creates the respective reverse link.
The OTRS ITSM standard offers seven link types:"
which is followed by a Screenshot that doesn't even show the link types. Way to go!
However, it should be the following ones:
--------------------
Alternative to
--------------------
Connected to
--------------------
Depends on
Required for
--------------------
Includes
Part of
--------------------
Relevant to
--------------------
But my question is - how do I read it? Example: I am on ConfigItem A, click on the "link" button, search for ConfigItem B and choose "Depends on". Does now CI A depend on CI B or the other way?
I wished the documentation would go further into detail with this!

@tbu First of all, thank you for your understanding.
Just curious to know, have you found any solution already regarding this?

Re: Relationships between CIs
@Roy
Actually, I want to know how they define naming between two CI linkage.
For example-
CI `1` linkage with CI `2` where `type_id` is 6(includes).
Now in the OTRS application, it shows **Depends on** but it should show **includes** since it's connected via `type_id` 6.
My question is how do they define the naming convention here?

Hi,
The naming convention is Object1 relation Object2. The defintion can be found in the system configuration, search for LinkObject::PossibleLink.
The type_id doesn't matter - to me, they can differ on every system.
