SMTP Relay Unavailable, can impact the performance of OTRS

Hello,

I need help, someone would know me answer it if my e-mail relay become unavailable, and the otrs settings I use various types of notification, the otrs performance may be impacted?

Another question is:

Today, my SMTP setting in OTRS points to a relay exchange, what happens to the notification, if the relay is unavailable, and queue change of e-mail is sent? The OTRS stores it somewhere?

if you use direct smtp connection from OTRS the mails will not be stored. Olease use the local MTA of your Linux box OTRS is installed on

Always use a local MTA for any serious system.

If you connect directly to an external SMTP which is unavailable or even just heavily loaded (*) you will see long waiting screens in the OTRS frontend for every action that sends a mail.That includes replying to a customer but also closing a ticket if that triggers a notification. For the users this looks like OTRS is being extremely slow but in reality it's just waiting on the mailserver.

*: OTRS interprets some valid responses like 'mail is queued" as an error and waits for a 250 reply.
