OTRS and Exising Apache/MySQL/PERL

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had successfully installed OTRS using the source code only package on an existing server with XAMPP already installed and configured as I would like to integrate it into our existing website. I have been trying to do this but have been unsuccessful and am getting an authorization denied error message when trying to access any page in the OTRS directory or subdirectories. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
