User sessions too long in system

In Admin area under session mangement, the sessions of users who have long logged out. Why are the sessions still available in the system? Is there any way to end user sessions when they log out?

they will be deleted every night by a cron job

is there a way to change the delete interval for these session other than manually killing the session in admin area

if a person locks out correctly the session should be deleted directly
