FAQ Editor - Image upload hangs

While editing an FAQ article, attempting to upload a jpg image into the article, the Image Properties interface can be started, and Upload tab chosen, browse for an image to upload and when selectiong "Send it to the Server" the screen will change to the flashing black/white boxes and then never returns. Just remains on this screen and the screen can not be closed. A refresh of the browser will remove the Image Properties screen and return you to the FAQ editor.

Using IE8, the brower will report Errors on the page as follows:

The posted error messages from IE are not related to the issue. Those errors only appear after you attempt to close the Image Properties dialog while it is in its hung state.

Further investigation points to an authentication issue. We have enabled HTTPBasicAuth in order to achieve SSO for Agents. Apache error_log indicates:
