i am currently looking to install a new helpdesk app at our company and i was interested in otrs, but one feature we really need is the ability to do almost everything through email. so we would want to be able to set the status via email, set the owner, etc...

i tried to search the forum but it looks like the term "email" is not allowed as a search term.
can anyone tell me if this can be done with otrs?

not unless you used a bunch of postmaster filters. But as agent emails can be easily spoofed, OTRS is not recommended for agent interaction via email. Agents will get email responses to tickets if configured to receive them.
