Hi,
We are not into the new bells and whistles, and will try to see if OTRS will fit to our needs. Would it be better if we install OTRS on Ubuntu (14.04LTS Server) through the packet manager, or should we use the source files ?
Regards.
source or packet manager ?

Re: source or packet manager ?
My opinion to throw into the mix:
Don't use Ubuntu server, use Debian (if not one of OTRS' preferred distros).
Never use the version in the package manager. From what I understand it is terribly out of date and OTRS has no intention of supporting the package manager version any longer. From source is a few extra steps, but really isn't that bad, especially for a fresh setup.

Hi
any linux distribution with perl may be used. You can use Ubuntu and Debian and RHEL or whatever.
You should use the distrubution, you have the most knowledge about.
and yes, do not use the online package manager of your distribution.
Use rpm if possible and available, use tar.gz if needed, from official otrs.com repositories.
