Customer Creation Notification?

We have deployed OTRS 3.04 and are excited about the potential for our company. I have two questions:
1. can you create a notification to agents when a new customer has been created? We currently have offered the service to a select few customers but are looking to allow new customers hit the public site, and create an account. So far I have yet to figure out how I can be notified when new customers create an account.
2. I am not a database guy, but I am learning: is there a way to add a batch list of customers to our Database? I was wondering if something as simple as a .csv or a spreadsheet could be used to upload customer info and automatically populate the customer dbase.

Keep up the good work. This is an amazing product and I am really excited to see what is next.
