Our organization moved to Microsoft 365 last year, and now Microsoft has announced that they are terminating support for basic authentication. This mean that POP and IMAP with basic authentication will not be allowed anymore.

Is there any idea if OTRS will add functionality to address this? If not, we will likely be forced to abandon OTRS for a Microsoft based solution, which would be sad.

there are several ways you could use right now:
- forwarding mails instead of fetching
- fetchmail
. switch to a provider which follows standards
Please also note that the implementation MS did so far does not work (e.g. compared to Gmail)

Forwarding the mail is a possibility, but we try not to have active mail servers on campus anymore. Politically this may not be feasible.
I haven't seen any fetchmail examples where it was used up against Microsoft 365, so that's a little bit of an unknown.
Choosing a mail provider is a decision done at a much higher level for the entire campus.
