Linked As - Linking CIs Question

Post by agcook »

Greetings all,

Perhaps I am over thinking this but I'd like to know how others are using the Link functionality to build their CMDB? For example, if I go into the CI ServerX and want to create a relationship with APP1, what is the order of operation for the Aleternative to, Connected to, Depends on, Required for, etc... ? This is hard to explain - so if I start at ServerX CI and click on LINK, and then find APP1, when I link on the object APP1 what would I chose to say that the APP1 is dependent on ServerX?

So does it read ServerX depends on App1 under Linked As? Or does it read App1 Depends On ServerX?

Does that make sense to anyone? :)

Thanks for the help!

you have to choose "depends on".

You can deduce the answer to your problem from the parents-child relationship in correspondence with Ticket::ACL, where a parent ticket cant be closed, if the child-ticket is still open. I had the same problem.
