New to OTRS Few Questions

Hi

Have installed OTRS and am doing a quick evaluation to see if the software have the procedures we want

Dont want to bother sales yet so have downloaded the latest evaluation version.

I have several queries so far

1 When installing it said it was better to use Active Perl, I tried this on several machines and after choosing an install directory found I could go no further installing OTRS, this was worked around by deinstalling active Perl and using the default Strawberry Perl (speed is an issue with this!)

2 In the ITSM, we want to define our own CI number, have found UniqueCIName in the Admin/Sysconfig etc, but this option is greyed out so I cannot use my own CI numbering system

3. In the ITSM in the Overview section, I want to view other columns, have again found the section in Admin,Sysconfig,
ITSMConfigItem::Frontend::AgentITSMConfigItem###ShowColumns adding the cols I want to see does nothing, what else to I need to do?

That's a known bug. But I strongly advice not to use windows on production systems. *NIX will be faster and more stable

That's not possible, but you can add another field to store your own numbers

Add the cols I want to display, save, log out/in - reboot, and nothing changes in the CMBD overview
still getting the headings State, Configitem#,name,deployment state, Incident State, last changed state, no scroll bars or any addition fields

Added several fields Including description , change the content values from 1 to 0

I put in description,

and i have used the ones already there to try to get double columns as a test

got the field names from outputing the CI items I had and asked for headings!

If description is not correct can you give me a list of them
