Notification email addresses screwed up

Post by Linwood »

New OTRS user, mostly delighted but having one strange issue.

When new mail is sent inbound to the system, it creates a ticket that looks correct.

I have notification set to send a confirmation outbound, and that fails, I THINK because the address has been incorrectly placed in the outbound mail.

Here is an example (I am blotting out part of the email address, the XXX is added by me, the weird characters are not).

The inbound ticket comes from address XXXX@XXXXX.com

The inbound ticket display correctly shows that address in the "From:" in the article #1 when created.

The notifications sent (I have one for creation and one for close) in the ticket display of the associated article uses this address:

XXXX@XXXXX.com&quot, XXXX@XXXXX.com&gt

I am fairly sure that is originating in some form from an email address with display name, e.g.

"XXXX@XXXXX.COM" <XXXX@XXXXX.COM>

that has been incorrectly broken up.

This gets a bit more strange in that I have surveys turned on. The survey email CORRECTLY goes out to the original XXXX@XXXXX.com. So the address is sometimes correctly interpreted.

The customer involved was dynamically created by the inbound mail message -- it did not exist before. If I go in and register (from the customer screen), and use the provided password, the ticket DOES appear there, so it is correctly associated with the XXX@XXXXX.com email.

After registering, I once again opened the same ticket, and closed the same ticket again, and it still had the bogus email, but still had the correct outbound address on the survey.

The ones with bogus addresses are, needless to say, not going through.

Any idea what I am missing?

PS. I've tried email from different addresses including different domains, and from Exchange as well as Gmail, and all do exactly the same. Notification and ticket display is wrong, survey is correct.

One more possibly relevant aspect -- I am reading inbound email from a POP3 server running Exchange 2010 using POP3TLS.

Sorry -- one more piece of information.

It appears to be ONLY notification email. I just tried a reply with external mail and it went through fine as well.

So replies and surveys work, but notification email corrupts the outbound address of the customer.

Thank you for the quick response.

I can easily make that change in place, but is there a way to know when (if) this is fixed in a new official release level of the community version? The #413 attached to it -- does that flow out into the bug number or... ?

PS. This did fix the problem of course.
