Changing Free Fields Options

Post by thunter28 »

I need to add a new dropdown option for the free fields sections of tickets. What I need to do is add either OH1 or OH2, depending on the service location that the ticket will be assigned to. I have searched different ways to do this, but have not found any solutions. This should also be a searchable field if I need to find the ticket in the future.

You should update your version. Currently 3.3.x and 4.x are the only ones being provided support from OTRS proper.

On topic: Where are you currently at a stopping point?

Do you know how to make a drop down list for a Free Text field?
Have you invoked ACL for Free Text (Note that we're currently discussing the new Dynamic Field replacement for free text, so it's important to consider upgrading because you'll likely need to adjust ACL for the upgrade anyway.)?
OTRS 6.0.x (private/testing/public) on Linux with MySQL database.

I am using 4.0.3 on a Centos build, I hadn't updated my profile details in a while.

What I had done so far was add a dynamic field called Location ID that offered a drop down of either OH1 or OH2. I was unsure on how to integrate into the free fields window, or if it was even possible. I would also like to see it as a column on the dashboard so that we can sort by location if necessary. I will look around in sysconfig a little more today, but any help would be appreciated.

Generally, I'd suggest ignoring Free Fields and add the field to Note, so you can document the change.

We use the free fields window for almost all tickets already so this is why I wanted to use it. I do not want to add any more steps that necessary.
