OTRS 5 Can't connect to gmail

Hello guys,

I had searched the web and forum but up to now cant find a solution to this issue. I cant get OTRS to connect to either smpts or pop3s prototols of my gmail e-mail addresses. I have used SMTPS/465 and POP3S/995 and I get always an error message saying the authentication has failed, however, if I use any of my coorporate e-mail accout it work perfectly with both.

Config:
OTRS 5
Ubuntu 14.04
MariaDB
AWS EC2 Instance

Note: I have all outgoing traffic open and have even tried open ports 465 and 995

So, perhaps pop/imap needs to be activated in Gmail

Too bad but it doesnt work. and the issue I have is only with Gmail. What else should I try?

Can you connect to gmail with an application outside OTRS (telnet, other mail application, ...)? Do you have a firewall that blocks outgoing traffic to gmail? Did you double check the setting?

Hi reneeb,

I think the problem is that apparently Google is blocking it because I receive a message that says:

someone tried to sign i to your google account from an app that doesnt meet moderm security standards

with the subject

Sign-in attempt prevented

and even though I turn on "Access for less secure apps" in Gmail, it still happen.

Can you check if IMAPTLS works? Google may prohibit SSL connections and requires TLS...
