installer problem

hi,,

I used the win32 package to install OTRS for windows
after installing the package, I starts the web installer from the shortcut icon on the desktop "OTRS Agent-Interface"

its supposed to open [http://localhost/otrs/installer.pl] BUT, the page cannot be found

What is this??

I tried to remove the program and reinstall it, but the same problem !!!!

solved by running the apache2 service and MySQL from services...

I've now another problem...

It means that otrs is trying to use a root password for mysql that isn't valid. If you set up mysql, you should have a password for root.

I tried to put a password for the root
...
when i removed the password (left it blank)

It comes a new error
when it creating the database

I have changed the database name, to my company name
and it worked

what i need now is to configure it with my company website...

I have installed the system on my machine, I'm reading the documentation files
But, I can't find how to link these two things with each other?? (my company website and OTRS) !!!

You need to install it on a server in the internet or on the same Server like your website

if you want /otrs to work from your website, you should probably install OTRS on your website.

It requires the ability to have shell/command line access to your website. If you don't have that, then you should host OTRS with a provider that allows you to install.

It's a bit difficult to provide you an answer because the answer is directly related to how your website is set up. If you don't control it completely, OTRS is not for you. If you have someone hosting it, designing it, etc, then they *might* be able to also install OTRS for you.

If you don' tknow how to install software on a linux box you really should not do it!

The Doku for Installation on a plain system from tar.gz file is included in the tar.gz File of OTRS (INSTALL). If your hosted system runs CPANEL you will need to do some workarounds you'll find here in the forum

No it is a Linux box, so the windows installer can't be used.

I know how to use OTRS in full details, but installation is my problem. Is there any way to use windows installation...

couldn't I use this windows package to install it, and host it on other server that accepts windows installations. after that I can make a hyperlink on my website to the OTRS hosted on other area ???

I am afraid that it is not OTRS related at all. You should contact the person responsible for your IT infrastructure.
If you really want to do it yourself, please start from user manual related to setting up the web server.

Installation depends on the operating system of the server.

You can use every kind of server which is accessible via Internet.

As it really seems that you have no clue on what you are doing I'll close this thread now.
