linux newbie needs help with installation

guys,

I am being forced by management to start using linux and one of my projects is to install otris 2.4.7 on fedora 13.

when I do the install I keep getting these messages to install different versions of perl modules.

see below


could not do simulated otr2.4.7.01.noarch
requires perl dbd-mysql

ortsil 2.4.7.1.noarch requires perl-libwww-perl



otrs2.4.1.noarch requires mod_perl

to make matters worse every time I find some type of perl module to download that particular module needs another module


Please help keep in mind Iknow nothing about linux. I am a windows admin


any help would be greatly appreciated

well, if you have no clue on linux it will be a bad idea.

Have you thought on managed OTRS or SaaS as an option instead of installing it yourself?

okay I got otrs installed along with itms 's first two packages

core & general catalog


but for all other itms packages I get this error message

I am runnng fedora 13.

I tried editing the mysql 's my-small.cnf and change the max packets to 16 mb and restarted the mysql services and I still get the error message

I got a little further after I figured out that those other .cnf files were templates so I bumped up the max packets allowed to 32m

I know get this message when I try to install itmsproblemmanagement


The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.

any ideas
