Are LDAP/ActiveDirectory users listed when searched?

Post by chetannagaonkar »

Hello,

I haven't tried this, hence the question. What I understand is that if a LDAP/Active Directory is existing, you can leverage it for OTRS without creating new users. Now, let's say that OTRS is configured to sync with ActiveDirectory/LDAP. Once this is done, will the agent be able to search users in OTRS thru Admin section? I mean, will they appear when they are searched in OTRS users? Also, if the employee leaves the org and if he is taken out/disabled in ActiveDirectory/LDAP, is the change reflected in OTRS too?

Thanks.

Yes.
Qualified answer for second part: Deleted users don't remove their tickets, just the customer's access to them.

Cynthias,

I have a scenario where OTRS needs to be implemented on Linux; however, it needs to be integrated with Active Directory. Is there a way if it can be done? I am under the impression that if the OTRS is to be implemented on Linux/Unix, one typically takes advantage of LDAP. How does one configure Linux with AD?

Thanks.

OTRS doesn't care whether it's running on Linux or Windows to connect to LDAP, and neither does LDAP. Also, I'm C.r.y.t.h.i.a.s., and a guy :)
Check the Wiki and the docs for LDAP integration.
