Upgrade problems

I see a lot of problem reported for upgrading. What is the safest way to upgrade? I currently am using version 3.0.0 beta5.

Upgrading problems apply to older versions to 3.0.x
Since you are already running a 3.0.0b version this is an update, no upgrade.
openSuSE on ESX
IT-Helpdesk: OTRS 3.0
Customer Service: OTRS 3.0 (upgraded from 2.3)
Customer Service (subsidiary): OTRS 3.0
+additional test and development systems
