Install OTRS on hosted system

Hello all,

I'm new to OTRS and planning to setup for OTRS for my company...

Is it possible to setup OTRS system on hosted system? My domain is hosted with 1and1.com, will OTRS work or I need a dedicated linux box?

you'll need root access...
