Right-to-Left Support
Hi,
I was wondering what the status is with right-to-left support (Hebrew in particular). In 2.4.7, Hebrew characters show up ok but the text is left-aligned, and when a given line has both a mixture of Hebrew and English text, it really gets mixed up.
Thanks,
Carey

Re: Right-to-Left Support
Hi Carey,
There is no Hebrew file bundled with OTRS, right?
If you're in the process of creating your own file, you should add
to the he.pm file. We have had issues before with supporting RTL languages (in particular Arab) but as far as I know they have been addressed since 2.4.2 or so.

Code: Select all
$Self->{TextDirection} = 'rtl';

Re: Right-to-Left Support
Hi Mike,
I assume the he.pm file is for Hebrew, right?
If so, should I also define the Hebrew charset in the line
$Self->{Charset} = ['iso-8859-1', 'iso-8859-15', ];
I guess I would also have to translate all the values in lines like
'Yes' => 'כן',
'No' => 'לא',
etc.
Do you know if a file like this already exists? There's like 1700 values to translate, at least for our implementation at Software AG...
Thanks,
Carey

Re: Right-to-Left Support
I'm not aware of any earlier attempts to create a Hebrew translation. Yes, he.pm would be for Hebrew, and yes, you should also define the correct charset, for Hebrew probably something like ISO 8859-8.

Re: Right-to-Left Support
Hi Carey
Just wondering if you ever did do a Hebrew translation for OTRS? If so, would it be possible to get a copy of the file? We are currently using OTRS 2.4.9 and about to deploy this in Israel. English would probably be fine for the beginning but a Hebrew version would of course be much better (even a partial one).
Thanks
Marion

Still working on it, in between all the other things. I'd say I'm about half-way through. I'll be happy to post it, once it's done.

Any idea when you'll be done? If you're interested, we could share whatever is left, to speed things up.

Hi Carey
Just to add to my previous post, if you could provide us with your translation efforts so far, we'd be happy to get everything else translated. Since we will need the Hebrew version relatively soon, the only alternative for us would be to translate the whole lot ourselves, which really would be a wasted effort.
Thanks
