Slightly Off Topic - Customer info

Post by awoldman »

This is slightly off topic, but I was wondering what people are using along side of OTRS to house customer/network/end user information

We are looking to use some sort of data repository to hold site information for multiple sites and customers.
IPs, devices, username & passwords, notes etc.

We have tried a few solutions that work but are not great. The last attempt was using a module for sugarcrm.
My next experiment is going to be a wiki that supports user security.

Thanks for sharing.

You can enhanced your customer informations by adding new fields etc. In the admin-manual you will find an example for this.

When you enable the customer company feature you can map customer-user to a company. Also you can also enhance the company details like you need.
In our case we are using the customer company feature and we enhanced also the customer-user table and the customer-company table. In the customer-company we store additional infos like ftp-login etc. In total I guess around ~20 additional fields.

Another option would be a Wiki like you said. Then a possibility would be to add a new field in the cusomter-user or company with the Wiki-Link. In the field-mapping you can directly store a link, so that you directly access the wiki by clicking on the link out of the customer-data in the ticketinfo.

I think the wiki + direct link through custom field in otrs is going to be the solution!

Thanks for your feedback!
