Hi everyone

Posting for the first time..... We use RT at present and although great app, can be cumbersome.... Anyway one of the best features of RT is the ability to add custom fields.

I am reviewing OTRS and I can instantly see many benefits with this platform, however what is the ability to create custom fields in the latest version of OTRS and OTRS ITSM?

Article and Ticket free text fields: fill in the blank, drop down, and date pickers are available.
OTRS 6.0.x (private/testing/public) on Linux with MySQL database.

Ok excellent thanks for that. Are there any limitations to the custom fields?
Also does OTRS have a workflow / trigger mechanism depending on what you select?

Also with the custom fields, do I have the ability to create as many as I want?

Hi,

I'm also evaluating this tool and have the same questions. I'm looking to see if OTRS can handle simple and sophisticated workflows as well as the Change Management process. I've installed the ITSM package and am trying to figure out how to configure the CM piece to the way we would like our Change process to be.

Can anyone please let me know the following:

1. Can OTRS kick off custom scripts from window/linux and pass along custom field values to complete some task
2. Is there a way to map existing groups/users from AD to the groups/roles defined in OTRS via a template of some sort
3. Is OTRS mobile ready (ie...can I approve via my black berry)?

1>>Yes, check out generic agent in admin panel.
2>> You can map agents of otrs to AD, not sure about mapping groups and roles.

Yes you can. Not sure about running scripts but I think you can. OTRS is very flexible.
