I am using OTRS 3.0.6 and want to send automatic response upon ticket close. How can I do that? Can anyone provide a step by step configuration?

It already should ?
Do you use the 'close' button on top or reply (dropdownbox --> Empty answer)?
If you use reply then it send an email message out to the customer (if you set the ticket state to closed succesfull).

OTRS 3.0.7 with MySQL on Windows server 2003 r2 server with AD integration for customers.

The official statement is that you should be composing a Reply to the customer with next state=closed successful.
