I run a small support business (I am the only tech) and would like to know if anyone is running OTRS (including ITSM) on an Amazon Micro Instance. This is for very light use, ie only a couple of tickets per day. Happy to scale up when it is needed....
This has come about as I am running v2.4.6 as a hosted version and it crashed the other day taking a couple of tickets with it, and I figure it might be easier to just set up 3.09 on Amazon and handle the maintenance myself.
Any input gratefully received
Adam

from the Amazon EC2 page-
http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/
'Completely Controlled – You have complete control of your instances. You have root access to each one, and you can interact with them as you would any machine.'
I have already gone down the path of wanting OTRS hosted at my current provider, unfortunately the requirement for root access is what sent me to Amazon......
FYI, here are the specs-
'Micro Instances
Instances of this family provide a small amount of consistent CPU resources and allow you to burst CPU capacity when additional cycles are available. They are well suited for lower throughput applications and web sites that consume significant compute cycles periodically.
Micro Instance 613 MB of memory, up to 2 ECUs (for short periodic bursts), EBS storage only, 32-bit or 64-bit platform'

Then yes, all you need is root access to install OTRS. Just make sure you have a secure connection to your mail server

OTRS: 3.0.9 & ITSM 3.0.4 - OS: Windows 7 - DB: MySQL - Heaps of random/useful hacks

I gave up on this project when it became too complex for my tiny mind. Am now attempting an install on SuSE Linux on a machine I had lying around. My head still hurts, but not quite as much.
