Bulk Mails Received

Dear All,

Please help me out in fixing this, from past 2 days i have been receiving mails like below in my mail client (nearly 300-500 mails) not sure why it this is happening, please advice me why and how to stop this.

MAIL SUBJECT - Warning: could not send message for past 4 hours

check the mailing system of the linux box (or ask the linux admin to do so). The mails are generated by cron and it seems that the MTA is not running.
