Can i import customers from SQL 2005 DB

Is it possible to do the above? Our entire customer database, some several thousand entries is on an existing sql 2005db and not in AD at all.

I have had a quick look through how to's etc but either im missing it or it doesn't exist.

Obviously I wont be hand balling each entry into OTRS, so how do I get them in?
