IncidentState in a CI

What's the role of a IncidentState in the definition of a CI,and if i delete it what's the impact ?

the incident state show if a CI is operational at the moment

but how can this state be changed,is it changed automaticly when we declare an incident to this CI ?

you can change it manually or via system monitoring module

When a CI is incidented ,what's that mean in OTRS ,what can we do with this CI,it's the same use of an operational CI?
