Install using basic webhost and ftp

Post by faithless »

Hello All,

I been looking for a guide on how to setup this program using a basic webhost setup and FTP. I have a web space i would like to host this on, but having issues finding a basic step by step guide for the install.

I would like to use my windows server but i dont have a static IP so i guess the only method is to use this webspace i have?

Thanks for any help in advance.

you'll need shell permissions for proper installation of OTRS. You need to install some PERL modules and cronjobs, so a Webspaces without shell access is not usable
"Production": OTRS™ 8, OTRS™ 7, STORM powered by OTRS
"Testing": ((OTRS Community Edition)) and git Master

Ah shell access,

I might be able to get the administrator to do. Not to sure. Update. Thats a no. even a friend in life still wont provide that access. Its a cpanel web host.

Do you know if it works with DynDNS Update? Its a program that links domain to DNS which then points to a non-static IP.

Why not? This isn't a limitation of OTRS, but whether your firewall port forwards 80 to your otrs box.
OTRS 6.0.x (private/testing/public) on Linux with MySQL database.
Please edit your signature to include your OTRS version, Operating System, and database type.

Ok, Thats good news.

Ill make sure i get the DNS forwarding correctly to home server, Then setup the ports on the router. Im guessing that should do the trick.
