how to update OTRS helpdesk from 3.1.6 to 3.1.7

Hello,
If I already have an functionnal installation (with addon) in 3.1.6, how to or which is the best way to make the update towards the 3.1.7 version ?
The ideal would certainly be to uninstall the old version and to reinstall the last version (3.1.7), but sure I would lose all my personal modifications ?

Disclaimer: this is not the official answer, but:
Backup the otrs folder
Backup the database
download the 3.1.7 source
extract 3.1.7 on top of 3.1.6
clear/empty/delete cache
rebuild config
verify permissions (see README)

Historically, minor revisions don't change schema.
