I'm in the middle of assessing whether we can use OTRS for our organisation or not.
My current experiences are nothing but positive and the strong community is really a fresh breeze from other trouble ticket systems we have previously used where discussion is sparse.
My current issue is the e-mail requirement in new phone tickets.
We will be importing our customers from our database to OTRS (on a side note, how will importing about 6000 customers into OTRS affect performance?), however in our system e-mail is not a required field so a lot of our older customers just has an x assigned to their e-mail, also we are often contacted by other addresses regarding the customer then that which is assigned to that customer.
The only related search result I found suggested adding a generic "phone customer" with a phoney (pun intended) e-mail address and assigning the ticket to that, however that completely defeats the purpose of importing your customer base as the "trackability" of phone tickets disappears (unless I've misunderstood how customers work in OTRS)
Perhaps I was over-thinking my search queries because nothing popped up. If this has already been answered I deeply apologize for the double post!
tl;dr Is there any way I can disable e-mail as a mandatory field when creating a new phone ticket?

switch off the MX and Syntax check via Sysconfig
