I am new to this software and have been task to look at helpdesk solutions. We want to put it on our web host which is full linux web server (perl, apache, mysql, etc)
Now as mentioned i am new to this, so i dont downloaded the "source archive" version "OTRS 3.1.11 tar.gz" uploaded it and then when to the url;
http://hostname/otrs/installer.pl as pear the readme.webserver file. No file in that director exists with that name... its in the bin/cgi-bin folder. but when i run that file i get the following error;
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [no address given] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
So wondered where i am going wrong and how i can get it running on our web host to play with it properly internally as the demo look very good and what we are looking for.
i also wanted to know a bit more about the OTRS OTSM is this open source too and what additional features you get as the PDF is a little miss-leading on what you get open source and what you get when you pay. I am doing on before of a non-profitable charity.
i see there are all some plugins for monitoring? we would like to monitor the servers so if you could confirm if this is free also?
