Connection between MS Dynamics CRM and OTRS

Post by Fbian »

Hello everyone,

First of all a litte introduction of myself.
My name is Fabian and I am from the Netherlands.
I am 23 years and allmost graduated as an Information Engineer.

At this moment I am working on a project that considers Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
My assignment is to create a customer portal for Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
I know there are enough standard modules for CRM.. but this is not how its going to happen.

I was wondering if it is possible to use OTRS as a front end (web portal) which communicates with MS CRM.
This portal will be used for customers to create and monitor their cases.

I hope someone can tell some more about this solution.

Thanks in advance. :D

Kind regards,

Fabian

It's possible, though if you don't know how to link into your CRM via ODBC, you're going to be at a loss, plus making sure you don't screw up accounting. I'd suggest (but, this is just me) that you create a user account on SQL that has access only to the tables relevant to the integration -- likely Customer and I can't really think of anything else, but you'd know.
OTRS 6.0.x (private/testing/public) on Linux with MySQL database.
