Hello OTRS Community
I am new to OTRS and have been tasked with the investigation of the possibility of using this system to track the utilization of employees within my organization.
I would appreciate if someone who is familiar with the module could help me clarify a few questions (I've ranked them in priority order so if any answer is "no" then there is no need to proceed to the next one :)
Or if there is any documentation that addresses these points then just please let me know the link and I'll check it out!
- Does the module allow the configuration of projects / tasks which are unrelated to other OTRS features? In other words, is it only good to track (for example) customer support tickets, etc or can I also create projects related to Operations, Marketing, Consultancy, etc?
- Does the module produce reports on the data entered? I have seen some helpful SQL to generate reports for time spent on certain activities, but this concerns me as it could indicate that the only reporting method is by creating your own SQL... Are there pre-built reports?
- Does it allow for cloning past periods or creating templates so that users don't have to manually select each project/task combination each day/week (assuming that the work of each individual is fairly repetitive and the same projects/tasks will apply to multiple periods with small adjustments only)
Thank you very much in advance,
Diana.

Re: Functionality of the Time Accounting Module
no.
There are other solutions based upon project management that might better suit your purposes. And I'm saying this as a prolific user of OTRS. It's *possible* that you might get what you need out of this, but reporting isn't optimal and template repeating is likely non-existent.
I'm likely wrong as I only use this tool for the job it's good at: ticketing and keeping track of incoming requests. However, based upon the gist of your query, I'm not certain you'll get out of it what you think you want from these questions.
