Apache 2.2. Crashes

Post by virtualhost »

Hi,

I have had this problem for over a week. OTRS does not load after 15 minutes when you login for the first time. We have restarted the apache services to fix the issue temporarily.

Is this a known issue that Apache crashes frequently ? Is there a permanent fix ?

Regards,
Virtual Host

Ok - I tried to migrate to Linux. The instructions are poorly written and do NOT even begin to address all of the steps to install on Linux, without mentioning a process for migrating from Win to Lin. I've been a Windows Server admin for 18 years, so I'm quite used to hearing "Linux is better, faster, etc..." I don't want to digress into a Win vs Lin discussion. I use Linux servers in specific roles because they the "right tool for the job". I'm not at all opposed to migrating to a Linux platform; but I had difficulties installing on Linux years ago, and just recently I had numerous problems trying to get Linux to run OTRS. Whereas, the Windows version was a dead-simple installation, files are easy to find, easy to edit, and in general easier to manage. I tried to install 3.2.x on Windows...and Apache crashes like clock work. There are a few discussions, so others are having a similar problem.

So - a lot of rant, but I'll close with a constructive feedback that jojo's response to "run on Linux" is a very poor and ill-thought response. Maybe if i had managed Linux systems for 10-15 years, I would say "yeah...convert to Linux", but i am betting the poster chose the Win platform vs. Lin platform because you go with what you know.
