open a new ticket (phone or email), you can choose a queue, if you got hundrets of queues it would be fine to search for a queue.

hundreds of customers, but I only see two chances to manage this..
1. hundreds of queues for each customer (I know, you are against it, it's also not my preferred solution)
2. hundreds of customer companies, but then I got the problem with opening new tickets, see my 2nd thread (search for customerID)
because I dont know all of my hundreds of customerIDs by heart :/

I *never* have to worry about either. Even if I had thousands of customers in different companies, they're in my database... I don't change anything in how *I* work to add a new customer.

usually, I know the user I'm going to assign as customer to ticket.

I assume that the user's in my database, start typing the user's first and last name .. hey, it's there. the user is selected, and the database user's customer_id fills... go on with life.

No, the user's not in the database, click the customerUser address book link, add the user in, ... select the company from the list, ok, add the Customer to the ticket. CustomerID is filled. done.
