relation between roles,groups,agents

hi.hope u r doing great..i have somethings to ask..

how the roles going to have any impact ??

cannot we go without defining roles?? does role mean specifying a group that what it does ??? why dont admin,stat or users group have any roles defined ???


how agent,groups,roles are correlated to each other as a combined figure..plz explain and make it simple for me...thanks

and in what way we customize the dashboard..i found one way where we can check off and uncheck the things which we want/dont want on dashboard but that's limited....is there any other way to customize it accordingly what we think???

roles fgives permissions on groups.
Persons (agents) are assigned to roles

Don't assign agents to groups (only on small systems up to 5 users)
