I have a question my boss wants me to check out:
Is it possible to remove the ticket merge option?

you can de register the module via sysconfig (but should not do this)
"Production": OTRS™ 8, OTRS™ 7, STORM powered by OTRS
"Testing": ((OTRS Community Edition)) and git Master
