Customizations to database and Defaults.pm after upgrade

Post by pete83 »

Hello there,

I was wondering what happens to customizations to the database and Defaults.pm after a upgrade of OTRS core. I've added some text fields to Customer Companies and I would like to keep these customizations after a upgrade.
OTRS 3.1.4
ITSM 3.1.2
Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS
mysql 5.1.41

Ok I found that when I copy my customization from Defaults.pm to Config.pm the file will not be changed after a upgrade.
But what happens with the database after a upgrade?

Don't touch Defaults.pm. All changes should be in Config.pm.

The database schema could be upgraded depending on what you're upgrading from/to. Always backup your folder and your data prior to upgrade.
OTRS 6.0.x (private/testing/public) on Linux with MySQL database.
