I would like the following:
When a customer makes a new ticket he has to choose with a dropdown "Hardware" or "Software" then a new dropdown appears with the subselection of "Hardware/Software" (eg. Hardware -> Computer, keyboard,...)
Is this possible ?

yes, via dynamic fields and ACLs or perhaps a better solution is to use the services
