Impossible to send message to

I have been searching everywhere and tried many of the suggestions on this site and have gone no where. I am using a VM ware server and using 1and1 for my host of the server, website and email. When i try to setup the OTRS to send the mail on a reply it wont let me. When I do a password reset it send just fine. Im confused, the password reset uses a different email address, I even tried to use the same one from the password reset email and its just not working. Please help!! here is my error message:

Impossible to send means there is no viable transport (SMTP/sendmail) OR the email address is malformed/invalid.
