hi All,
I have been playing with a number of support desk systems the past month and not having much luck with any. It now brings me to OTRS.
I would like to know if this program works with exchange? I am currently on the setup stage 3, where it asks you to enter the mail configuration. but i'm having some trouble locating the correct settings for the exchange server. In the inbound mail host section i have tried both the public access address mail.domain.co.uk and the full FQDN server.domain.local. But for some reason i am unable to get it to connect.
Has anyone been able to get this program to work with exchange? if so, could you share the settings you used!
thanks in advance.

Re: OTRS & Exchange
Hi Again,
I have been able to pass the check.
The IMAP security needed to be changed to BASIC AUTH. Followed by a service restart and it all passed.

Re: OTRS & Exchange
I now have encountered another error with the email settings.
When i email the support address it logs the ticket to the correct queue, But when i go to reply the ticket i get the following error.
Backend ERROR: OTRS-CGI-10 Perl: 5.12.3 OS: MSWin32 Time: Thu Apr 18 19:21:38 2013 Message: Impossible to send message to: emailaddress@hotmail.co.uk . RemoteAddress: 192.168.0.100 RequestURI: /otrs/index.pl Traceback (4716): Module: Kernel::System::Ticket::Article::ArticleSend (OTRS 3.2.5) Line: 2071 Module: Kernel::Modules::AgentTicketCompose::Run (OTRS 3.2.5) Line: 763 Module: Kernel::System::Web::InterfaceAgent::Run (OTRS 3.2.5) Line: 863 Module: ModPerl::ROOT::ModPerl::Registry::G_3a_insta_2dtech_OTRS_bin_cgi_2dbin_index_2epl::handler (unknown version) Line: 41 Module: (eval) (v1.99) Line: 204 Module: ModPerl::RegistryCooker::run (v1.99) Line: 204 Module: ModPerl::RegistryCooker::default_handler (v1.99) Line: 170 Module: ModPerl::Registry::handler (v1.99) Line: 31
The ticket updates on my dashboard but it does not send an email to the client. In fact, When i opened the ticket it never sent an email saying the ticket had been opened either.
Any ideas?

Re: OTRS & Exchange
I'd search the forums but ... impossible to send is impossible to send.
Likely causes:
1) SMTP server unavailable
2) not using SMTP server
3) SMTP credentials
4) Spoofing not allowed on that SMTP server
5) no transport method specified.
6) ghosts.

Re: OTRS & Exchange
Hi,
Thanks for the troubleshooting ideas,
I seem to be having one of them morning where nothing goes right and you miss the simple things in front of you, but i can not find where i setup the details for the sending email.......
I am looking in Admin -> Email Settings but i am unable to locate where you setup the email that sends on behalf of the system, My first guess would be Email Addresses, But i am not able to set the method used or even add the credentials to the address..... I am looking in the correct place?
Cheers
