Installation Issues on Windows 2003

Hi,

I am totally new to this and have been trying to install OTRS Help Desk v3.3.6 using the Windows Installer downloaded from http://www.otrs.com/try/ ...
Got the ActivePerl 5.16.3 32bit installed and am able to start the installer which completes successfully. At the end it launches 'http://localhost/otrs/installer.pl' to continue with the rest of the installation.

However, this fails with a Page not Found as there is no WebServer installed as part of the installation?? Also, I cant seem to find any installation instructions in the Documentation Site too...

How do I get this to work?

Here's what I have been following from doc.otrs.org to install OTRS HD 3.3.6 --

Installing OTRS on a Microsoft Windows system is very easy. Download the latest installer for Win32 from http://www.otrs.com/try/ and save the file to your local file system. Then simply double-click on the file to execute the installer, and follow the few installation steps to setup the system. The installation wizard will take care of installing all components for OTRS. The next step is to configure OTRS using the web installer, as described in this section.
Important The Windows installer for OTRS contains all needed components for OTRS, i.e. the Apache web server, the MySQL database server, Perl (with all needed modules) and cron for Windows....

Having downloaded the installer and as per the guide it contains the web server and all the required components and yet it fails to Launch after the installation completes : http://localhost/otrs/installer.pl

Any suggestions?

Don't use Windows.

I'm not sure why you'd expect someone to be able to provide information on installation on a Windows 2003 environment. Even if it worked, the underlying hardware would likely be underpowered for anything serious and the software would not likely have enough protection in itself to do anything productive.

It could also be an issue where you'd probably want to run in a 64 bit environment ...

On the other hand, just for your issue, would be a probability that another service (IIS, Skype, [random web service]) is installed and competing with OTRS's distribution of apache web server or that the installer is unable to install on such an old version of IIS.

Anything of the above is a possible scenario. Your mileage might vary.

nin1106 is "on target". If you have installed Perl, then uninstall it. The Windows Installation will install everything for you. As crythias said, be sure that IIS isn't running either.

I have the same problem, there is no information, how to install the Windows 2003 platform and how to activate in IIS?.

did you use the commercial version of Active State Perl?
