Popups windows note take too long to submit data

I recently migrated from a (slow) windows OTRS system to a fast linux+apache+mysql system. Everything has been going fine and the speed is way better than with windows + iis. However, I can't figure out why it takes really long when data is submitted through pop-up windows. For example, when I add a note, it takes very long for the popup window to be closed and a note to be created. What could be the reason behind this peculiar behaviour of an otherwise fast system. How could it be resolved

I had this issue before..in my case, it was the email server..when i switched servers.. the new server could no reach the email server..after i fixed it, it all went smoothly..

so in your case, if after adding a note you are sending a email, check errors logs

I don't think mail server could be a problem. The notification emails are received by agents almost immediatly, adding a note is what takes time. And it is not only adding notes, in process tickets as well the activity dialogs take long to close after clicking submit button and in this case no emails are sent.
Does anyone have another idea?
