Missing Firmware for OTRS 4.0 Appliance

We have installed the OTRS 4.0.4 Appliance on a Dell PowerEdge 1950 II. However the server will not
allow the network interfaces to come up. It appears that the firmware/drivers are not
available. We attempted to install the debian packages for the BroadCom Netextreme II.
This appears to install however again the network interface will not start.

We have the following network interfaces on the Dell PowerEdge II with OTRS Appliance.
BroadCom NetXtreme II BCM5708 1000Base-T

We installed the following packages and none worked:
firmware-bnx2_0.28+squeeze1_all.deb <--didn't work
firmware-bnx2_0.43_all.deb
firmware_linux_nonfree_0.43.deb

We even tried but did not work also
firmware-realtek_0.28_squeeze1_all.deb <-- Didn't work so we removed it
firmware-bnx2_0.36+wheezy.1_all.deb <- We know wrong version for OTRS Appliance. We have removed it
firmware-bnx2x_0.36+wheezy.1_all.deb <- We know wrong version for OTRS Appliance. We have removed it

if you directly install on hardware you should consider a manual linux installation instead of the appliance

We would have but it appears OTRS is only supported on CentOS 6, Redhat5/6/7, we use only CentOS 7 for our installs or Windows. When we tried to install OTRS 4.0 on CentOS 7, it required packages that do not exist in CentOS 7, but are available with RH7 however those specific packages being requested are NOT interchangeble.

It appears the only option we have is installing OTRS 3 OR using the appliance. We prefer the appliance as it is locked down. The site says it should install on hardware....but appears this is incorrect.

well not all Hardware can be suported for sure.

Did you try http://ftp.otrs.org/pub/otrs/RPMS/fedor ... noarch.rpm. You also might to use EPEL for additional packages. Also ensure that mod_perl is availabe. As Redhat 7 is working, Cent OS should also

This RPM won't install, we get incompaible perl modules errors. Looks like this is not going to work, we'll have to look for something else or stay with a VM, which we have doubts it will be able to handle the load as a VM. Our previous HD application was not able to handle being a Vm either.

well, try Ubuntu or go for a managed system

Ok, we're not familar with Ubuntu as it is not a standard here. I'd have to make a pitch for making a standard before I can use it. Managed system is out of the question, our security policy forbids 3rd party managed systems, we have to have full control over patching, backups etc.

on Ubuntu you get all needed PERL Modules via packages (apt-get)

Will that install 4.0? From what I am reading it will only install 3.2

you have to install OTRS from tar file. Not from Ubuntu repositories. But you'll get all needed Perl Modules.

Update:

Tried Ubuntu, would not install on Dell PowerEdge 1950, can't find the hard disk/RAID controller.
Tried the EPEL, EPEL provides mod_perl on CentOS 7 https://huntingbears.nl/2013/12/17/no-m ... -centos-7/, this installed wrong version of Perl for OTRS 4.0, the RPMs won't install either.

Looks like we are going to stick with the VM until we can find compatible hardware to install.
