Can the Generic Interface be configured with a group of field mapped to a single field?

Hi

I have a question with Generic Interface, I am trying somethings out. There is anew project that will interface with the OTRS. The specification have not yet iron out but I'm looking at the initial document and trying some implementations.

Let's say the system has a field that can be empty or optional and it is mapped to an existing OTRS field that is mandatory. Is there a way to configure Generic Interface to have a default value when the remote system's field is empty? For example if the remote system's field - call it "Escalate To" is empty, OTRS Queue will become "Service Desk". I don't have much experience creating web service, but am I correct that this is not possible?

Let's say the system that will integrate with OTRS has a Alarm field with a list of different Alarm Types, and Device field with a list of Devices. If I want a mapping that based on Alarm field and Device field from the system to be map to just one field in OTRS like Severance. Am I correct that this is also not possible? To do this I have to create a customized Generic Interface?

I have not create a web service for OTRS yet. Can I have an example of maybe PHP or Perl code that sends a request to the web service and receives a mapped output?
