Can't update 6.5.9-01 to 6.5.10-01 CentOS 7.9

Post by piotrusx »

Hello,
I need your help.
When I try update Znuny from 6.59 to 6.5.10 using rpm packgate from: https://download.znuny.org/releases/RPM ... noarch.rpm
I get the following error:

Code: Select all

Downloading packages:
Running transaction check
ERROR You need to update rpm to handle:
rpmlib(PayloadIsZstd) <= 5.4.18-1 is needed by znuny-6.5.10-01.noarch
Any suggestions?

Is it a valid rpm file https://download.znuny.org/releases/RPM ... noarch.rpm?
MD5SUM is correct, but I can't display cpio file content from rpm file: "Corrupted cpio header encountered in CONTENTS.cpio"

Code: Select all

md5sum znuny-6.5.10-01.noarch.rpm

Hey,

The rpm version in CentOS 7/8 does not support PayloadIsZstd (Zstandard compression).

You could either resolve this with a workaround (there are tutorials online; on your own risk) or rebuild the package from source using the .srpm (on your own risk, too).

Does it mean that https://download.znuny.org/releases/RPM ... noarch.rpm isn't for CentOS/RedHat 7?

Hi,

We have to verify this; we no longer test with CentOS 7 because it's EOL. The RPM is built with EL9, which is probably the root cause of this.

Why do you not migrate to a different distribution. e.g. debian based.
if you google for "how to migrate Znuny from centOS to Ubuntu" you will find a tutorial i have helped to write it.

If you give me feedbacks for your new issues, I will help you to fix the tutorial along with fixing your issues.

Will this problem be fixed or ignored?

I'm also running centos 7.9 and an answer to hkais. Well, sure but that'll take som hours and hours are a scarce resource. 7.9, in general, still works fine for what I need it for.

Hello,

We still have no solution for this. The root cause is that we built the RPMs with a new version of Enterprise Linux, and the used compression algorithm is not available with CentOS 7/Enterprise Linux. Until we find a solution, we recommend using the source install if possible. It does not take much longer, and you don't have to change your Linux distribution. The source install works fine with all of them.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I solved it by downloading the source RPM and rebuilt it using rpmbuild. I've installed it and it worked fine. Only thing I had to do was to, as usual, delete and rebuild cache but also znuny.Console.pl Maint::Config::Rebuild, before that it thought my browser was too old :)

I can't attach it here but if someone needs it, pm, and I'll email it to you. I take no responsibility for the RPM, it was the first time ever I did something like this so if you're using it, make a backup first!

Sorry, by the way, this is for 7.1.3-01-version, not 6.5. I just realized that the initial query was about 6.5 version.

Hi all,
I'm having the same issue on a CentOS 7.9 and foud this post, but I was really not able to understand the point and would like to ask if someone can clarify:
Znuny 6.5 LTS RPMs are created for for CentOS/RHEL7 (https://download.znuny.org/releases/RPMS/rhel/7/) but they seem no more be compatible with the OS they were created for, since 6.5.10.

@root writes that the RPM packages are built with RHEL9. But they aren't compatible with RHEL9/Rocky/Alma, right? And there are currently no packages for EL 8/9. I fully agree that EL7 is EOL, but I don't get what's the value of the incompatible EL7 packages available now. Wouldn't it be better to build EL8/9 RPM packages (the main Linux distro of most enterprises that have a serious amount of Linux servers)? I guess that probably I just misunderstood something ;-)
Thanks for any clarification!
